Beauty devices backstage: Supermodel beauty secrets from New York Fashion Week

• 11 February 2022

While 2021 turned New York Fashion Week on its head and was an eclectic mix of online and offline events, the 2022 showcase is bringing the live catwalk back at Spring on 50 Varick Street. Our favourite designers are emerging with a ton of new looks and catwalk models are flaunting the best styles and flawless complexions up close and personal. From Victoria Beckham to Bella Hadid, we’ve pulled together the behind-the-scenes beauty devices that help achieve the looks you love.

Wondering how Model and Actress Suki Waterhouse always has such glowing skin? We have the inside scoop. With 2-3 applications per week, Suki uses our award-winning CURRENTBODY skin LED Light Therapy Mask. Combining anti-ageing red and near-infrared light therapy, Suki reduces her fine lines and wrinkles in just 4 weeks. And now you can too!

But we bet you’d like to know what runway royalty, Victoria Beckham, keeps in her backstage closet? Well, there’s no denying Victoria comes well prepared which is why the end result for her shows is always flawless. Take RÉDUIT UNI for instance; a futuristic misting technology for the skin and hair that helps product to penetrate deeper into the epidermis and follicles. This all-in-one treatment is a staple to combat the physical stress on the body during Fashion Week and provides a more intense absorption of the nutrients and products needed to look fierce.

Victoria also uses the Swedish beauty and wellness brand FOREO’s UFO Mini Supercharged Facial. Combined with H2Overdose; a microfiber sheet mask, Victoria’s team of experts can instantly soothe and moisturise models’ skin in 120 seconds before make-up application. These nifty devices have helped up to 30 models in one show achieve sensational looks in line with the premise “bare, fresh and glowy”.

And Victoria doesn’t just focus on skin. Getting the right look for hair is a must. For super straight hair on the move, Victoria’s team rely on the 9000 Cordless Straightener by Babyliss. Working with Guido Palau, they added undone bends to models’ locks and then looped them into effortless buns which in true Victoria fashion was on point. Plus no cords must mean no drama in those chaotic backstage dressing rooms, right?

But straight hair isn’t the only look at Fashion Week; what about the shows with models with that effortless wavy hair that looks unstyled (but we all know it is)? That’s where Derek Lam’s behind the scenes toolbox grabbed our attention. Using a combination of the T3 Source Shower Filter to cut chlorine out of the water by 95% Derek’s models all start with enhanced silky soft-washed hair. He then perfects the look with the T3 Whirl Trio Interchangeable Styling Wand giving that wavy second-day hair that we mere mortals are craving.

And that brings us to Bella Hadid, hailed globally for having effortless flawless skin. But the good news is the secret is out, and just like an Olympic athlete, Bella trains her face with NuFACE’s Trinity Facial Toning Device. Using very low levels of electrical current to stimulate facial muscles, this nifty must-have essentially trains your face through temporary contracting and lifting to tone your face and stimulate collagen production. It’s the perfect non-invasive alternative to injectables and we’re all about it.
